I started AmericanRunnerBlog.com after running in Georgia (and across the United States) for more than 40 years and competing in marathons for nearly two decades. I wanted a fun, unique calendar/schedule of interesting road race and trail events throughout Georgia with the insight of someone who’s “got the T-shirt.”

Looking for the best places to stay near your next Georgia running event? As a long-time marathon runner, I know quite a few! When one really stands out, like the little Hilton Hotel across the street from the Start Line in Albany, I’ll tell you about it in my blog post..

Also, if I find a seriously-improved running shoe, running shorts, running pants, smart watch, reflective, or anything else that makes us faster, safer, warmer or drier… If I like it, I’ll give you my honest review.     Some Running Gear Recommendations

    BOA Running Shorts Everybody will be dressed out in red white and blue at their July 4th race, but just how much of that red white and blue was Made in USA. I have a pair of BOA Black Elite Shorts. They are light weight. Bullet fast. 

    Halo Race Visor I’m a visor guy, and these Halo Headband products are the real thing.  I’ve run in 90-degree heat. They work. FYI Most Halo products are Made in USA.

    Hersey will make a pair of custom running shoes just for you. Just don’t expect somebody there to answer the phone or return your email. I saw a pair my size on EBAY for $125.00. Next day they were gone! 

    Soark James bought me one of their Performance Wicking Shirts for Christmas. I really like it. It’s well made and very light weight. They’re available in long sleeve, short sleeve, and sleeveless options.

    Tracksmith 18 percent of the finishers at the 2020 Olympic Trails in Atlanta were wearing Tracksmith as part of the Company’s OTQ support of the amateur running community. 

    Wright Socks The morning of the Museum of Aviation Marathon was cold with near freezing rain. Somehow, I kept my feet dry the first 13 miles but then screw it, I just ran thru the puddles the last half. Wright Socks is known as the Original no Blister Sock, and that day they made a believe out of me.
