Christmas Gifts for Runners
Christmas Gifts for Runners might include a Smart Watch for Jogging or training for a marathon, but like almost everything else, it’s probably Made in China! iStock photo.

I suspect most everybody has a family member or friend that portends to be a runner, so we’ve put together a Listing of Christmas Gifts for Runners with everything from merino wool running socks to a chance to Train with Kenyans. Most of these are around $10.00 to $20.00, but that last item might cost a bit more, especially if you intend to fly over for their 2 week Mission Trip.

Body Glide

I still remember going into the Phidippides store in Ansley Mall and telling the salesperson that I was going to be running my first marathon and needed a pair of running shoes. An hour later I left the store with a pair of New Balance shoes, Wright Socks, and a bar of Body Glide. Swim Bike Run or All 3….This is the little gift that keeps on giving.

Look for Body Glide at your local run store, bike shop, REI etc.

Boston After qualifying for Boston, Beverly drove over to the Atlanta Public Library and checked out every book they had on the Boston Marathon. Hal Higdon’s tabletop hard cover book covers a Century of Running: Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Boston Athletic Association Marathon Hardcover – November 1, 1995. The folks at Amazon had 30 something copies when we checked this listing at the first of December. Boston is The Book you want to wrap up and put under the tree as The Christmas Gift for Runners!

Flip Flops

Okabashi is not a running shoe, but it’s the type of comfort footwear you’ll like to slip into after a run. Beverly bought a pair of their flip flops back in June and hasn’t taken them off since. Okabashi is a great Christmas Gift for Runners made right here in Georgia.

Headband

I discovered a little company online up in Vermont called Skida. As in skiing.  I like warm, and my Skida Nordic Headband is light, warm, and snug, Skida continues to expand their offerings and now has beanies, headbands, hats, bataclavas and a whole lot more. And it’s all locally Made in Vermont.

Gloves

A number of companies are making Made in USA products out of merino wool from running socks to base layers including the folks at Minus 33

Running Bra

Tracksmith made singlets and running bra’s for the 2020 Olympic Trials in Atlanta. “We developed the Allston Bra for long-distance storage. At the 2020 Marathon Trials in Atlanta, several women donned the pocket bra under their singlets, for added storage for their fuel. The verdict? All the support you need plus added utility makes this bra a go-to.”

That said, I still haven’t convinced Beverly of the need to buy one. Singlet that is.

Girl Friend serious about competing? Show her how much you care by buying her the very best!

Visor

I’m a visor guy who sticks his sunglasses on this head before every run. Halo is a feather light visor with a little tech feature that channels the sweat away from your eyes. Halo makes visors and sweatbands for running, biking, hiking etc…most are Made in USA.

Wool Running Socks

If you’re looking for a smart gift idea a pair of Merino Wool Socks is a sure bet. The folks at Cloudland say you want a sock that propels you forward — not one that holds you back.

Train with Kenyans

I wore my TWK Tech shirt to the age group podium at the Artfest Half Marathon down in Moultrie. It was red and my BOA Elite running shorts are black. Why? Cause Georgia was playing Tennessee later that day and I wanted to show off my Red and Black!

I met the folks from Train With Kenyans years ago at an event sponsored by Phidippides in Atlanta, and I really took a liking to them. So if you’re looking for something extra ordinary … especially for your student athlete, take a look at who they are and what they do. This might well be the best Christmas Gift for Runners!
